Most folks call me “Trusty”…

My name is Amanda Trusty (she/they) and legend has it that I came out of the womb with an “attitude”. That “attitude” evolved into a grit and a wit that shaped my performance career over the last three and a half decades. I was born into a family of musicians and was singing original musicals in department store dressing rooms by the age of three. And by original musicals, I mean making up my own words for the songs I listened to the most - Barney’s theme song, Full House’s opening credits, and Silent Night - no matter what time of year. I’ve taken things up a notch since then, lacing up my tap shoes for performances in Hawai’i, belting ABBA, Loesser, Sondheim, and Gershwin in beautiful regional theatres, and even living my fifteen minutes of fame with a viral burlesque video where I shed patriarchal labels to Katy Perry’s “Roar”.

I’m a hoofer, a comic, a beltress…

I was approximately 17th chair clarinet in the high school band, I danced through adolescence at competitions and conventions, and I found my way to improv at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, which was a wonderful program I was so privileged to attend before it lost its funding while I was in college. I’m a dog mom, a hiker, and an award-winning recraft-leftovers-into-new-creations-chef. My eyes are big, my hair is bigger, my laugh gigantic, my heart enormous. Thanks so much for being here.

“Christopher George Patterson and Amanda Trusty score a number of duets and dance scenes together. The combination of "Swinging Santa Medley" and "Santa Baby" lets the duo strut their stuff early, and "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is spiked with a thrilling up-and-down-the-stairs tap routine.”
